# Delete Customer

```
DELETE
/customers/:id
```

Deletes a customer and every payment method it owns.

This is the operation to use for a data-erasure request: the buyer's saved payment methods go with the customer, in one call.

**Refused while the customer is still billing**:

The request fails with `409` when a subscription that is `ACTIVE`, `TRIALING`, `PAUSED` or `PAST_DUE` still names this customer. Cancel those subscriptions first.

**What is kept**:

Payments and charges already made are not deleted. They keep the copy of the customer's details taken at the time, because they are a financial record.
