Shopify apps overview
MONEI connects to Shopify through several apps. Each app adds one or more payment methods to your checkout, and you can install as many as you need — every app you activate shows up as its own option at checkout.
This page explains what each app accepts and how to combine them. To set one up, open its page for step-by-step install and configuration instructions.
Native vs. hosted-page checkout
MONEI's Shopify apps work in one of two ways:
- Native — the customer pays without leaving your store. MONEI Onsite adds credit and debit card fields directly inside Shopify's checkout. The single-method apps (Bizum, MB WAY, Multibanco) add one button that redirects the customer to that method to confirm, then returns them to your store.
- Hosted page — MONEI Payments redirects the customer to MONEI's secure payment page, which shows all the payment methods you've enabled in MONEI, and brings them back when the payment is done.
Which app accepts what
| App | Accepts | Checkout experience |
|---|---|---|
| MONEI Onsite | Credit & debit cards | Native card fields inside Shopify checkout |
| MONEI Payments | All your enabled methods, including Click to Pay and digital wallets | Redirect to MONEI's hosted payment page |
| MONEI Bizum | Bizum | Redirect to Bizum |
| MONEI MB WAY | MB WAY | Redirect to MB WAY |
| MONEI Multibanco | Multibanco | Redirect to Multibanco |
MONEI Payments is the only MONEI app that accepts Click to Pay and digital wallets in Shopify — customers complete these on MONEI's hosted payment page.
Which apps do I need?
Pick by the methods you want to offer, then combine the apps:
A common setup is MONEI Onsite + MONEI Payments: native card fields for the fastest card experience, plus the hosted page for Click to Pay, digital wallets, and any other methods. Add Bizum, MB WAY, or Multibanco as their own dedicated buttons where those methods matter.
Single-method apps like Bizum (Spain) or Multibanco and MB WAY (Portugal) are region-specific. To show them only to customers in the relevant countries, see Hide payment methods by country.
