Connect an AI assistant to your MONEI account
Connect an AI assistant, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, to your MONEI account. Then ask it about your payments, customers, subscriptions or payouts. With your permission, it can also act for you, for example create a payment or issue a refund. It can also answer questions from this documentation.
The assistant never gets your password. You sign in to MONEI, choose one account and what the assistant can do, and you can disconnect it at any time.
Add MONEI to your assistant
Every assistant uses the same address:
https://mcp.monei.com
- Claude
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Claude Code
- Codex
- Cursor
- VS Code
For claude.ai and Claude Desktop, on a Free, Pro or Max plan:
- Open Customize → Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector.
- Enter the name
MONEIand the URLhttps://mcp.monei.com, then click Continue. - Under Authentication, choose Sign in now. Under OAuth client, keep Use Claude's published identity.
- Click Add. Claude opens the MONEI sign-in.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner first adds the connector in Organization settings → Connectors. Then each member clicks Connect in Customize → Connectors and signs in with their own MONEI user.
Available on the Business, Enterprise, Edu and Pro plans. Pro can only read. On a workspace, an admin or owner adds the MCP server.
- Open ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter the name
MONEIand the Server URLhttps://mcp.monei.com. - For authentication, choose OAuth. Leave the client ID and secret empty.
- Select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- Install the plugin. ChatGPT opens the MONEI sign-in.
In a chat, type @ and select MONEI.
Available only on Google accounts that offer custom apps. Google's help article lists them.
- On gemini.google.com, open Settings → Connected Apps.
- Under Custom apps, click Add a custom app.
- Enter the URL
https://mcp.monei.com, click Next and follow the steps. Gemini opens the MONEI sign-in.
claude mcp add --transport http monei --scope user https://mcp.monei.com
Then run /mcp, select monei and choose Authenticate.
codex mcp add monei --url https://mcp.monei.com
codex mcp login monei
Add monei to mcpServers in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"monei": {"url": "https://mcp.monei.com"}
}
}
Then open the MCP servers in Cursor, find monei and click Connect.
Run MCP: Add Server in the Command Palette, select HTTP and enter
https://mcp.monei.com. Or add it to mcp.json:
{
"servers": {
"monei": {"type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.monei.com"}
}
}
Then start the monei server. VS Code opens the MONEI sign-in.
Choose the account and permissions
After you sign in, MONEI asks what the assistant can do:
- Account. Choose one account. The list shows the active accounts where you are an authorized user.
- Permissions. Choose Read to let the assistant only view data, or Write to let it also act. Customise sets this per area, such as Payments or Customers.
- Click Review, check the summary, then click Authorise.
The assistant never gets more than your own roles or permissions allow. A connection lasts 30 days. Then connect again.
Authorise only when you started the connection a moment ago, in an app you trust. If you did not, click Cancel.
Live and Test
| URL | What the assistant works on |
|---|---|
https://mcp.monei.com | Live: your real payments and customers. |
https://mcp.monei.com/test | Test: simulated payments, no money moves. |
To use both, add MONEI twice with different names, for example monei and monei-test. Changes to
your account details and verification (KYC) apply to your real account in both.
Unverified apps
MONEI has verified Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code and Codex. Other apps, such as Cursor or VS Code, can also connect. For them, MONEI shows an Unverified app warning, because MONEI cannot confirm the name of the app. Continue only if you started the connection in that app.
What the assistant can do
- Read: answer questions about your payments, refunds, customers, subscriptions, payouts and disputes.
- Write: also act for you, for example create a payment, issue a refund or cancel a subscription. Most assistants ask you before each action, unless you turn on automatic approval.
- Search the documentation: every connection can answer questions about MONEI.
Customer names, payment descriptions and other fields hold text that other people wrote. This text can try to trick the assistant. With Write, keep the approval of each action on, and read each action before you approve it. Do not choose Always allow. In Claude, use a Read connection for Research, where Claude uses tools without asking.
Session feedback
After a task, the assistant sends MONEI a short rating of the session and tells you. It is told not to include personal data. MONEI uses it to improve the service. You can decline it.
What stays in the dashboard
To protect your account and your money, the assistant cannot:
- See or create API keys, or change payment processor settings.
- Add, change or remove users, or change security settings.
- Change the bank account for your payouts.
- Sign your contract or connect a partner.
- Send live payouts.
Do these in the dashboard.
Disconnect an assistant
Open Settings → Connected apps and click Disconnect. Removing MONEI only in the assistant does not always end the access.
Disconnecting does not undo what the assistant did. If you gave Write to an app you do not trust, check your webhooks, SFTP reports and subscriptions.
Common questions
Why is my account not in the list?
You must be an authorized user of the account. If you own the account, select it in the dashboard, then connect again. In Test, the list shows only accounts that have a test account.
Does the assistant see my password?
No. You sign in to MONEI yourself. The assistant gets access only to the account and permissions you chose.
