# Customization

You can customize how MONEI looks to your customers — from your checkout page appearance to your domain and the descriptor shown on bank statements.

## Checkout appearance[](#checkout-appearance "Direct link to Checkout appearance")

Yes, you can customize your checkout page with MONEI.

A hosted payment page is a simple and secure way to collect payments from your customers. You can use MONEI's API to integrate a [prebuilt payment page](https://docs.monei.com/integrations/use-prebuilt-payment-page/.md) with your e-commerce store. Then you can customize the appearance of your checkout page with your logo and brand colors.

**Go here:** [MONEI Dashboard → Settings → Branding](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/branding)

## Custom domain[](#custom-domain "Direct link to Custom domain")

Yes, you can customize your checkout domain with MONEI.

<!-- -->

A custom domain costs **€4.99 per week** (VAT added). For current pricing, see [MONEI fees](https://docs.monei.com/manage-account/monei-fees/.md).

By default MONEI's checkout domain is secure.monei.com. By customizing your checkout domain, your customers will see your domain name instead of getting redirected to a MONEI domain.

**Example:** secure.yourdomain.com or pay.yourdomain.com

If you purchased a domain from a third-party provider (like GoDaddy or Namecheap) and want to use your custom domain during the payment process, you can connect it to your checkout page by following a process called domain mapping.

In this process, you'll change a few settings in your registrar's account. After completing these steps, your domain will stay registered with the host that you purchased the domain from, but it will connect to your MONEI checkout.

### Before you begin, please note the following:[](#custom-domain-before-you-begin "Direct link to Before you begin, please note the following:")

***Important!*** If you're having issues related to DNS settings or CNAME configuration while setting up your domain, please contact your webmaster or DNS provider instead of MONEI Support. If you don't have a webmaster, [contact a MONEI Expert](https://www.notion.so/MONEI-Experts-f67ee72ce90c4e6eb6069ee4cf396b84).

* Your domain should already be registered with a third-party provider. If it's not, see the domain provider list below.
* After you connect your domain, you must leave it registered with your provider to keep it connected to your MONEI checkout.
* Your domain provider must offer full DNS access. If they don't, you'll need to transfer the domain to a new provider before connecting it to MONEI.
* We recommend using your domain provider's default nameservers and updating the DNS settings in your domain account.
* Most domains connect to a site within 10 minutes to a few hours, but it can sometimes take up to 72 hours. Keep this timing in mind if you have a deadline.

**Hint!** Refreshing the page won't speed up the connection process. But you can click **Check status** to see if there are any updates a few minutes after you've added the CNAME record.

### To set up your custom domain, follow these steps:[](#custom-domain-steps "Direct link to To set up your custom domain, follow these steps:")

**Step 1:** [Go to your settings here](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/custom-domain) and click on **Custom domain**.

**Step 2:** Enter your custom domain and click **Enable custom domain**.

**Step 3:** When you get to the next page, follow the instructions to update your DNS settings and configure your domain.

You will need to reference instructions from your domain provider. View a list of popular providers below, including links to CNAME configuration support pages.

***Important!*** There are two steps to complete the configuration of your custom domain. You must complete step 1 below before you can proceed to step 2.

If your provider isn't on the list, you can use your domain with MONEI if you have access to DNS records.

Go to the support pages and search: **How to Create a CNAME Record For Your Domain** to find instructions.

If you're not sure who your DNS provider is, contact your system administrator for more information.

## Dynamic descriptors[](#dynamic-descriptors "Direct link to Dynamic descriptors")

Dynamic descriptors for card payments can be configured on your account, subject to the following conditions:

**1. Minimum 6 months of transaction history:** Your account must have consistent transaction activity with MONEI for at least 6 months.

**2. Case-by-case review:** Once you meet the first condition, our risk team will review your request individually. Please [contact support](https://support.monei.com) to open a request.

### Understanding statement descriptors[](#understanding-statement-descriptors "Direct link to Understanding statement descriptors")

A statement descriptor is the text your customers see on their bank account statement to identify transactions. The more recognizable your descriptor is, the less likely you are to receive disputes or chargebacks. Card networks and banks require you to include certain information to help customers understand their statements, which is the main purpose of statement descriptors.

When you activate your account, a fixed or **static statement descriptor** is set up and shows up on all customer statements. For card charges, you can also set up **dynamic descriptors** that contain a static prefix associated with your account and a dynamic suffix that changes with each card charge. This lets you include details about the product or payment on the customer's credit card or bank statement.
