# Stores and points of sale

Stores and points of sale let you organize all your payment activity — in-person and online — inside one MONEI account. Use them to segment payments by location, register, or channel, to control what each staff member sees, and to create QR codes and permanent payment links.

## How MONEI organizes your business[](#hierarchy "Direct link to How MONEI organizes your business")

* A **store** represents a shop, brand, or business unit. It has its own name, contact details, and address. On request, it can settle to its own bank account.
* A **point of sale (POS)** is a specific checkout inside a store — a register, a table, a QR display, or a staff member taking payments.
* A **QR code** belongs to a QR-type point of sale. Each code has a permanent URL that works as a scannable QR and as a shareable payment link.
* Every payment can carry a `storeId` and a `pointOfSaleId`, so you can group, filter, and report on it.

## Stores[](#stores "Direct link to Stores")

### Create a store[](#create-store "Direct link to Create a store")

Create and manage stores in [MONEI Dashboard → Settings → Stores](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/stores). Add the store name, email, phone number, website, and address. Each store shows its unique `storeId` on the store management screen.

![Configure Stores](/assets/images/configure-stores-db6ac00672765528ff2c77e6cf8b0100.png)

There is no extra cost to add stores, as long as they belong to the same business entity. If you need a fully separate setup instead — a different website, its own dashboard access, or separate accounting — create [another account](https://docs.monei.com/manage-account/multiple-accounts/.md).

### Settle each store to its own IBAN[](#store-iban "Direct link to Settle each store to its own IBAN")

MONEI can send each store's settlements to a different IBAN, so revenue from each location reaches its own bank account. This is not configurable from the dashboard: [contact support](https://support.monei.com/hc/requests/new) to enable it — MONEI verifies that each IBAN belongs to your business before activating it. Once configured, each store's IBAN appears read-only in your [stores list](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/stores).

## Points of sale[](#points-of-sale "Direct link to Points of sale")

Create points of sale in [MONEI Dashboard → Settings → Points of Sale](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/points-of-sale).

### Types[](#pos-types "Direct link to Types")

| Type | What it does |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **QR Code** | Generates one or more QR codes for in-person payments. Each code is also a permanent payment link you can share or embed. |
| **Virtual** | Has no code. A virtual point of sale groups payments and restricts user access — for a register, a branch, or a staff member taking payments through the dashboard, the API, or MONEI Pay. |

info

The type is set when you create the point of sale and cannot be changed later. Public administration accounts see a third type, **C60**, for tax and fee collection — see [Cuaderno 60](https://docs.monei.com/public-administration/cuaderno-60/.md).

### Payment settings[](#pos-settings "Direct link to Payment settings")

QR-type points of sale control how their payment page behaves:

| Setting | Description |
| ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Name** | Identifier for this point of sale — for example, "Store entrance" or "Table 5". |
| **Store** | The store this point of sale belongs to. |
| **Payment flow** | **Manual amount** — the customer or staff enters the amount each time. **Fixed amount** — every payment charges the same amount, in the currency you set. |
| **Allowed payment methods** | Restrict which payment methods appear on the payment page — for example, card and Bizum only. |
| **Manually capture payment** | Place a hold when the customer authorizes, capture the funds later. Shown only when every selected payment method supports it (card, PayPal, Bizum). Uncaptured holds expire in 7 days; support can extend this up to 30 days. |
| **Require email** | The customer must enter their email on the payment page. Enables receipts and the order QR below. |
| **Require tax ID** | The customer must enter their tax ID (NIF/CIF) before paying. Useful for invoicing. |
| **Callback URL** | MONEI sends a POST notification to this URL when a payment completes at this point of sale — a webhook without any integration work. If a payment is created with its own `callbackUrl`, that value wins. Handle it like any callback: verify the `MONEI-Signature` and return `200 OK` — see [receive webhook events](https://docs.monei.com/guides/webhooks/.md). |
| **Include order QR in email** | Adds a scannable QR with the order ID to the payment confirmation email. Requires **Require email**. See [validate orders](https://docs.monei.com/payments/qr-codes-and-payment-links/.md#order-qr). |
| **QR code text** | Text shown next to the QR in the confirmation email — for example, "Scan this code at the entrance". |
| **Description** | Attached to every payment created from this point of sale. |
| **Enabled** | Turn off to stop accepting new payments from this point of sale. |

Unattended checkout

A fixed amount plus a callback URL turns a printed QR code into a self-service checkout: parking, donations, set-price tickets. Print the code once — your system gets notified each time someone pays. See [use cases](https://docs.monei.com/payments/qr-codes-and-payment-links/.md).

## QR codes and permanent payment links[](#qr-codes "Direct link to QR codes and permanent payment links")

Each QR-type point of sale can have multiple QR codes. From the point of sale detail page you can:

* **Generate codes** for different locations or displays.
* **Download** each code as SVG or PNG (300, 500, or 1000 px) for print or screens.
* **Copy the link** — each code has a permanent URL, `https://secure.monei.com/codes/{code_id}`. Opening or scanning it creates a payment at this point of sale. Share it by email, WhatsApp, or SMS, embed it on a page, or print it — the same code works as a QR and as a permanent payment link. If your account has a [custom domain](https://docs.monei.com/manage-account/customization/.md#custom-domain-steps), the link uses it.
* **Enable or disable codes** without deleting them. A disabled code stops accepting payments until you enable it again.

Unlike [Pay by Link](https://docs.monei.com/payments/pay-by-link/.md), a permanent payment link is reusable: it never expires and takes unlimited payments.

### Short links[](#short-links "Direct link to Short links")

Long URLs are hard to print and read aloud. From the QR code screen, create a short link — a compact `monei.me` address for the same code:

* Choose a **custom slug** (for example, `monei.me/my-shop`) or let MONEI generate a memorable one.
* A code can have one active short link at a time.
* You can delete a short link at any time. Deleting is permanent — a printed short link stops working and the slug becomes available to others.

[Pay by Link](https://docs.monei.com/payments/pay-by-link/.md#manual-payment) payments also offer a **Get short link** option; those short links use a random ID and expire with the payment.

### Branding[](#branding "Direct link to Branding")

Your **icon** appears in the center of each QR code, and your **primary color** styles the code and the payment page. Configure both in [Settings → Branding](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/branding) — the icon must be a square image of 128x128 px. See [customization](https://docs.monei.com/manage-account/customization/.md).

## Segment payments and control access[](#segmentation "Direct link to Segment payments and control access")

Every payment created at a point of sale — or tagged through the API — carries its `storeId` and `pointOfSaleId`:

* **Dashboard and MONEI Pay** payments inherit the store and point of sale of the user who creates them.
* **API** payments carry the IDs you pass — see [assign payments to stores and points of sale](https://docs.monei.com/guides/managing-stores/.md).
* **Filter and report**: the [payments list](https://dashboard.monei.com/payments) and [transaction history](https://docs.monei.com/manage-account/transaction-history/.md) filter by store and point of sale.

Bind [authorized users](https://docs.monei.com/manage-account/accessing-your-dashboard/.md#users-roles) to a store or point of sale in [Settings → Users](https://dashboard.monei.com/settings/users) to restrict what they see.

Scoped users only see tagged payments

A user bound to a store or point of sale **only sees payments tagged with that `storeId` or `pointOfSaleId`**. A payment created without the matching ID is invisible to them. If you use scoped users, make sure every payment carries the right IDs — pass them in the API, or let the user create the payment in the dashboard or MONEI Pay, which tags it automatically.

## Common questions[](#common-questions "Direct link to Common questions")

### Can I use stores and points of sale for online payments?[](#online-payments "Direct link to Can I use stores and points of sale for online payments?")

Yes. Stores and points of sale are a segmentation tool, not only an in-person feature. Pass `storeId` or `pointOfSaleId` [through the API](https://docs.monei.com/guides/managing-stores/.md) to group e-commerce payments by brand, site, or business unit. Standard e-commerce plugins (Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Wix) do not support these parameters — only custom integrations do.

### What happens when I disable a point of sale or a code?[](#disable "Direct link to What happens when I disable a point of sale or a code?")

It stops accepting new payments immediately. Past payments and reporting are not affected. Enable it again at any time — the printed QR codes and links keep working because the URL does not change.

### Can customers enter the amount themselves?[](#customer-amount "Direct link to Can customers enter the amount themselves?")

Yes. Set the payment flow to **Manual amount**: the customer scans the code, types the amount, and pays. Use **Fixed amount** when every payment must charge the same price.
