# Connect Redsys

warning

This page only applies if you **bring your own acquirer or processor**. By default MONEI handles acquiring for you, so you don't need your own TPV Virtual.

## What is a TPV Virtual?[](#what-is-tpv-virtual "Direct link to What is a TPV Virtual?")

A TPV Virtual (sometimes referred to as a merchant ID or merchant code) is like a point-of-sale (POS) except it's virtual — a [virtual payment terminal](https://monei.com/blog/virtual-terminal/) for e-commerce websites. It's required to process **card-not-present** credit card transactions, which is why it's called "virtual." This is how it's translated:

* **Spanish:** TPV Virtual (Terminal de Punto de Venta Virtual)
* **English:** Virtual POS (Virtual Point of Sale)
* **French:** PDV Virtuel (Point de Vente Virtuel)

You can [get your TPV Virtual](https://monei.com/tpv-virtual/) from your corporate bank (the acquiring bank that will "acquire" your virtual transactions).

info

In Spain, all banks work with Redsys to issue a TPV Virtual to their customers. This is also the case for Andorra-based businesses — the TPV Virtual is administered by Creand Crèdit Andorrà, but it is created through Redsys.

**With MONEI, we handle acquiring and processing for you by default, and act as an all-in-one PSP.** You don't need to get TPV Virtual credentials in advance unless you bring your own acquirer or processor.

### What are "Redsys credentials"?[](#redsys-credentials "Direct link to What are \"Redsys credentials\"?")

If you're based in Spain or Andorra and have a TPV Virtual, you have Redsys credentials. When your TPV Virtual is created, you'll receive an email notification containing:

* Commercial Code (Merchant Code / Merchant ID)
* Terminal (Merchant Terminal)
* Secret key (SHA256)

The email also includes a link to access your Redsys admin panel ([canales.redsys.es](https://canales.redsys.es/)), with a login and password to view your transactions.

warning

If the credentials you received come from another provider (for example Paycomet), contact your bank and specifically ask for the **Redsys TPV Virtual credentials** listed above.

The only payment method you can configure **without** a TPV Virtual is [PayPal](https://docs.monei.com/payment-methods/paypal/.md#activation). All other card and digital-wallet methods require a TPV Virtual **when you bring your own acquirer**.

## Set up your Redsys TPV Virtual[](#set-up "Direct link to Set up your Redsys TPV Virtual")

When you register your TPV Virtual with your acquiring bank you will receive your **Merchant code**, **Terminal**, and **Secret key (SHA256)** — your Redsys TPV Virtual credentials.

To connect your TPV Virtual, enter these values in your [MONEI Dashboard](https://dashboard.monei.com/) under **Settings → Payment methods** and click **Configure** in the **Card** box (the first box).

Along with the TPV Virtual credentials, your bank should give you credentials to access [canales.redsys.es](https://canales.redsys.es/). If you don't receive them, ask your bank. Then log in and follow these steps:

1. Click **Comercio** in the left panel.
2. Select your **Merchant code**.
3. Click the **eye icon**.
4. Click **Modificar**.
5. Fill in the configuration data exactly as required (3 fields total).
6. Click **Guardar cambios**.

warning

You must ask your bank directly to whitelist **secure.monei.com** in Redsys. If the domain is not whitelisted, credit card payments will not work.

Now you can use [Pay by Link](https://docs.monei.com/payments/pay-by-link/.md#manual-payment) to run a test and make sure credit cards have been configured in your account. To set up payment routing across multiple processors, see [payment routing rules](https://docs.monei.com/payments/orchestration/.md).

## Activate MONEI with your Redsys credentials[](#activate-with-redsys "Direct link to Activate MONEI with your Redsys credentials")

If you have Redsys TPV Virtual credentials, you can start accepting credit card payments with MONEI's payment gateway:

1. **Sign up for MONEI** at [dashboard.monei.com](https://dashboard.monei.com/). If you're already registered, skip to step 2.
2. Complete all steps of the onboarding process. While completing the **Payment details** form, you'll be asked to provide your IBAN — this authorizes us to collect future payments from you (you'll be notified before each collection).
3. Configure card payments using your Redsys credentials: go to **Settings → Payment methods**, click **Configure** in the **Card** box, then **Configure** in the Redsys box, fill in the **Payment method configuration** form, and click **Configure**.
4. After you enable Redsys, integrate MONEI with your e-commerce platform or custom website using our [developer documentation](https://docs.monei.com/getting-started/.md).

info

The Redsys credentials form needs the MONEI PLUS plan. On any other plan the Redsys box shows an upgrade message instead of the form.

## Common questions[](#common-questions "Direct link to Common questions")

### I already have a TPV Virtual with a Spanish bank — how do I connect it?[](#already-have-tpv "Direct link to I already have a TPV Virtual with a Spanish bank — how do I connect it?")

If you already have a TPV Virtual configured with a Spanish bank, you can use it with MONEI. [Sign up for MONEI](https://dashboard.monei.com/) and follow the [activation steps above](#activate-with-redsys). If you'd rather have MONEI handle acquiring for you, you don't need your own TPV Virtual.
