Connect Redsys

warning

This page only applies if you bring your own acquirer or processor. By default MONEI handles acquiring for you, so you don't need your own TPV Virtual.

What is a TPV Virtual?

A (sometimes referred to as a merchant ID or merchant code) is like a (POS) except it's virtual — a virtual payment terminal for e-commerce websites. It's required to process credit card transactions, which is why it's called "virtual." This is how it's translated:

  • Spanish: TPV Virtual (Terminal de Punto de Venta Virtual)
  • English: Virtual POS (Virtual Point of Sale)
  • French: PDV Virtuel (Point de Vente Virtuel)

You can get your TPV Virtual from your corporate bank (the acquiring bank that will "acquire" your virtual transactions).

info

In Spain, all banks work with Redsys to issue a TPV Virtual to their customers. This is also the case for Andorra-based businesses — the TPV Virtual is administered by Creand Crèdit Andorrà, but it is created through Redsys.

With MONEI, we handle acquiring and processing for you by default, and act as an all-in-one PSP. You don't need to get TPV Virtual credentials in advance unless you bring your own acquirer or processor.

What are "Redsys credentials"?

If you're based in Spain or Andorra and have a TPV Virtual, you have Redsys credentials. When your TPV Virtual is created, you'll receive an email notification containing:

  • Commercial Code (Merchant Code / Merchant ID)
  • Terminal (Merchant Terminal)
  • Secret key (SHA256)

The email also includes a link to access your Redsys admin panel (canales.redsys.es), with a login and password to view your transactions.

warning

If the credentials you received come from another provider (for example Paycomet), contact your bank and specifically ask for the Redsys TPV Virtual credentials listed above.

The only payment method you can configure without a TPV Virtual is PayPal. All other card and digital-wallet methods require a TPV Virtual when you bring your own acquirer.

Set up your Redsys TPV Virtual

When you register your TPV Virtual with your acquiring bank you will receive your Merchant code, Terminal, and Secret key (SHA256) — your Redsys TPV Virtual credentials.

To connect your TPV Virtual, enter these values in your MONEI Dashboard under Settings → Payment methods and click Configure in the Credit card box (the first box).

Along with the TPV Virtual credentials, your bank should give you credentials to access canales.redsys.es. If you don't receive them, ask your bank. Then log in and follow these steps:

  1. Click Comercio in the left panel.
  2. Select your Merchant code.
  3. Click the eye icon.
  4. Click Modificar.
  5. Fill in the configuration data exactly as required (3 fields total).
  6. Click Guardar cambios.
warning

You must ask your bank directly to whitelist secure.monei.com in Redsys. If the domain is not whitelisted, credit card payments will not work.

Now you can use Pay by Link to run a test and make sure credit cards have been configured in your account. To set up payment routing across multiple processors, see payment routing rules.

Common questions

I already have a TPV Virtual with a Spanish bank — how do I connect it?

If you already have a TPV Virtual configured with a Spanish bank, you can use it with MONEI. Sign up for MONEI and follow the activation steps above. If you'd rather have MONEI handle acquiring for you, you don't need your own TPV Virtual.
