How to configure payment methods in MONEI

Once you've finished setting up your account and have been approved, credit card payments and digital wallets including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Click to Pay will be activated in your account. But it's important to configure more payment methods to offer your customers their preferred payment options.

NOTE: If you haven’t registered and activated your account yet, start here. If your business is based in Andorra, start here.

You'll be notified via email once your account has been approved​

Then you can follow these steps to configure more payment methods:

  1. Run a test by creating your first transaction with the Pay By Link feature
  2. Then go to Settings → Payment methods and follow the instructions in your dashboard (there are also support articles linked below for each payment method)
  3. The Payment methods page lists Your payment methods, with their payments, usage and gross volume for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, and the payment methods that are Available to add. Click the payment method you’d like to set up to open its page. The page says what its status means and what to do next, and its main action is a button, for example Activate MB WAY or Link PayPal Business Account. The ⋯ menu of each row has the same action, for example Activate or Link PayPal, and View details, which opens the page. Bancontact, MB WAY and Multibanco activate in a few minutes. MONEI turns on Bizum for you after your account is approved. For some other payment methods, the page has a button to contact support.

What each payment method shows​

Each payment method page shows its status and what to do next, and its succeeded payments, usage and gross volume. The Card, Bizum and PayPal pages show under Payment processors the processors that take their payments:

  • MONEI — one entry for each payment method that MONEI processes under your MONEI contract (in Andorra, Creand).
  • Your own processors — for example your PayPal Business account or your own Redsys TPV for Bizum, shown by name.

To turn a processor on or off, open its ⋯ menu and click Turn on or Turn off. Turn MONEI off for a payment method to stop new payments of that method going to MONEI. Before you confirm, the dashboard shows the rules, payment methods and wallets that the change stops. For card processors, see Manage your card processors.

MB WAY, Multibanco and Bancontact have only one processor, MONEI. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Click to Pay use your card processors. Instead of a processors table, the pages of these payment methods have a switch to turn them on or off, for example Accept MB WAY.

A processor can also show one of these states:

  • Pending activation — MONEI is still activating the payment method, for example after you click Activate for MB WAY, Multibanco or Bancontact. This usually takes a few minutes. Bizum also shows Pending activation while MONEI turns it on after your account is approved.
  • Unavailable — the processor cannot take payments. For MONEI, contact support to turn it back on. For one of your own processors, credentials are missing: click Edit in its ⋯ menu to add them. For PayPal, click Link PayPal Business Account on the PayPal page to link your account again.

Apple Pay, Google Pay and Click to Pay show Unavailable when they are on but no card processor that supports them is on. Their page then has a See card payment processors button, which opens the Card page.

Card and digital wallet payments are configured automatically, and you can continue setting up more payment methods. If you bring your own acquirer or processor, you need a TPV Virtual or your own Stripe account to take card payments through it.
